Hi. I'm Roberta Lindbeck
I began telling stories before I could write. I had a knack for getting into trouble as a young child and had a skill for telling a persuasive story that sometimes lessened the punishment.
Once I could write, I created stories with illustrations. I joined writing clubs, creative writing classes, journalism activities, and studies, and went to school at Fort Hays State University for a master’s degree in English.
“What are you going to do with that?” Asked my well-meaning dad, who thought I would be better suited to find a husband if I were a teacher and had summers off to take care of the (as-yet unthought-of) kids.
“Write.” I confidently responded. I knew I could have it all.
No surprise to anyone, I didn’t get it all. No one ever does. But – I never lost my passion for writing. It is a gift that is personal to me — one that I can, and do, share with others as I carry their stories and case statements to a world that needs to know more about them.
With more than 30 years of experience writing content for affiliate markets and donor-centric non-profit organizations, I am especially pleased that my writing has resulted in significant government and private grants and funding to nonprofit organizations, allowing them to help their clients who are in need of programs and services. Telling the story behind the need is a passion of mine. It’s the connector that brings someone to make a decision for good – their own, or for someone else.
I do have other interests, although I generally end up writing about them. I have a rescue dog (Charlie) and a cat (Prim). Charlie and I especially enjoy travel and car camping. I live in the Pacific Northwest, close to the ocean and the Columbia River. There are so many trails to traverse!
There’s always something to write and a story to tell.
